Description
In 1865 King Kamehameha V of the Kingdom of Hawaii enacted the quarantine of all citizens of Hawaii that showed symptoms of Hansen's disease (leprosy) . They were shipped to the isolated peninsula on the lower West side of Molokai. Siloama Church (sacred eternal spring) was founded by 35 Hawaiians cast out into a desolate and isolated spot on the Kalawao side of the peninsula of Molokai. The original church has been rebuilt three times and remains in the same original location where it was completed in 1871. All rights apply.
