Artist's Description

Shot today from the U.S. Coast Guard Station, Honolulu. Aloha Tower is as familiar a sight as Diamondhead is. It was the first sight of arriving ships to Honolulu back in the 1920s. A Late Gothic Revival, Art Deco style light house designed by Arthur L. Reynolds and built in 1926 at the cost of $160,000.00. Sitting at Pier 9 it is a landmark not unlike the Statue of Liberty. Its been portrayed on US Stamps and T Shirts. Photograph is the copyright property of Craig Wood and cannot be copied or used without permission. FAA watermark will not appear on prints purchased.

About Craig Wood

Craig Wood

My first camera was a Kodak Brownie that I purchased with a $5.00 bill that I found at the age of 12 (69 years ago, so no digital then). My first black and white photos were of the Steinhardt Museum in San Francisco and later the Kon Tiki, Thor Heyerdahl's sailing raft. Needless to say I was hooked. I joined the Air Force in 1960 and traveled throughout Asia. Even after retiring from the Air Force I was still in and out of Asia and Hawaii. My usual choice of 35 mm cameras was by Canon. I've done some 4 X 5 macro photography for a friend's magazine and shot lots of weddings, B Day parties, friend's kids / animals and many other joyous occasions. I'm now retired after working for the government for 42 years so spend a lot of time shooting...
