Description
The Hawaii Theatre opened in Honolulu in 1922 and was both a vaudeville stage as well as a silent movie theatre. It closed in the 1970s and remained that way until the 1980s when it was taken on as a restoration project. It was a "Pearl of the Pacific" in the 20s and described as competition with the best theatres in San Francisco of the day. Fully restored today it is again the "Pearl of the Pacific" with its golden columns, mosaic mural and dome. If you're ever in Honolulu attend a function there or take a tour of this "Pearl of the Pacific". Photograph is the copyright property of Craig Wood and cannot be copied or used without permission. The composition is superb. It is so difficult to capture ceilings of this nature and make them work as a piece of art but you did it wonderfully.
