Description
Kula'ila'i beach is an historic beach that once was an outrigger canoe landing spot in ancient Hawaii. Visitors would canoe around Kaena Point from Oahu's North Shore to visit the sacred Makua Valley that sits behind the beach.
In the 1970s it was a favorite surfing spot that was dubbed "Pray for Set"s a term that became "Pray for Sex". Someone took it upon themselves to paint that on a prominent rock that fronted the beach, but the real name of the beach is Kula'ila'i.
A couple of years ago someone painted this beautiful mural of sea turtles on a former bridge support that sat on the edge of the pond. In December of 2021 we had rain fall that hadn't been seen in 50 years The pond filled with the runoff from the mountains that surround the valley
and the outlet to the ocean was blocked by the waves crashing against the sandy beach. Thus the "masterpiece" end up in the middle of the pond.
